The Newest Trend - Power Smart New Homes

By Kari Kylo, BC Hydro Power Smart

Wouldn’t you like to live in a home that costs significantly less to operate, and is more comfortable to live in? If you’re in the market to purchase a new house, look for a Power Smart New Home.

A Power Smart Gold home uses less energy and costs less to operate than a non Power Smart home built in today’s market. In addition, homeowners of Power Smart New Homes feel less direct heat from the sun, fewer drafts, less condensation and may experience less outside noise.

Power Smart home features may include ENERGY STAR® windows, doors, appliances, furnaces, air source or ground source heat pumps, low flow toilets, faucets and showerheads, heat recovery ventilation, a programmable thermostat, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) and light dimmers.
