Using the EnerGuide label
Q: What is the EnerGuide label?
A: An EnerGuide rating provides a standard measurement of a home’s energy efficiency, based on a scale of 0 to 100. A home with rating of 0 represents a home with major air leakage, no insulation and extremely high energy consumption. A home with a rating of 100 represents an airtight home that’s well insulated, sufficiently ventilated and requires no purchased energy.
Q: What are the REALTOR® benefits of the EnerGuide label?
A: REALTORS® can use the EnerGuide label as a selling feature; the label identifies how energy efficient the home is.
Q: What are the customer benefits of the EnerGuide label?
A: In addition to how efficient the home is, the label also tells the homebuyer the annual estimated operating costs based on a set of assumptions.
Q: How to get an EnerGuide label?
A: Homeowners can contact Natural Resources Canada to request a service advisor who can evaluate the home and provide an EnerGuide label. Visit: www.oee.nrcan.gc.ca/energuide.
